What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

Dear Hajer,

Allow life to break you open

To crack you, shatter you, feel you

Guard your heart and release it to the wilderness of earth

Protect your soul and surrender to the seasons  of the forest

Allow life to break you open

Accept the cracking, shattering, feeling

This strange awkward unsettling music is for you, dance!

This electrifying, terrifying, freeing melody is yours, sing!

Allow life to break you open

To settle you down from the panic, to sing you sweetly to sleep, to gently nudge you awake

The child within you is safe and sound (and silly) and at play, play!

The adult within you is wise and in control (and true) and at peace, peace!

Allow life to break you open

To show you all its dizzying, unending and limitless capacity to hold you and contain you and embrace you and free you

Unfold your hands and breathe in the wisdom of the seeds and the vines and the trees

Nothing is yours and then everything is yours

(Eat and own with discernment)

You and I are here only for a moment,

too short or too long of a moment,

too big or too small of a moment,

too sweet or too bitter of a moment,

too good or too bad of a moment

but a moment.

Allow life to break you open

Let the wind, the sun, the earth, the fire in

Allow life to break you open

Allow life to be life within

Allow life to open
