Honestly never heard of Catania before this. Sicily yes but Catania or even Palermo? Not really, until of course life happens and we crossed paths. It was way warmer here than anywhere else we’ve been in Italy so far. When we took that boat, we also left behind the gray, overcast rainy weather in the Amalfi Coast. Here, we were greeted with sunshine and heat almost every single day. At this point in our trip, we’ve been moving around, every 3-4 days, for over 12 weeks already. The itinerary I’ve made for us was close to an end. –
We were filled up — eyes, stomach and brain… and we were also… exhausted. You know that feeling of being in a roller coaster ride, and all these emotions going through your body and brain? That’s kinda how it felt. —
So while in Catania, “we did very little” aka didn’t feel the need to do much. –
Italy is a pretty good country for this though. I love how people here can sit for hours just sipping coffee. I remember that first day we arrived in Italy(Venice) – we went to get coffee, in a hurry. And when we ordered the guy at the counter said, “Ok, ok, sit.” So we sat. When the coffee arrived, we wanted to pay right away, the guy said again, “Tsk, ok, later, ok, sit.” So we sat down again. After we finished our coffee, in minutes, we wanted to pay and the guy said again, “Tsk, sit, sit.” Hahaha So we just sat there, restless, uncomfortable, waiting for the cue that we can go. ? A month later, we’ve slowly appreciated this chill culture…. We spoke to some residents and this could, of course, be a source of frustration ? –
Life in the fast lane, life in the slow lane. ? I learned this popular Italian phrase (a book maybe?) , “La Dolce Vita” translated, “the sweet life” — enjoying the good things in life and indulging in things that you really love. –
If you’re into that, I wish that for you ♥️ #Sicily#Italy#June2019#LaDolceVita
