From Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast are many different modes of transportation. Most popular: public boats and buses, both very different experiences and very different views. And no doubt about it, it is an experience, especially taking the public bus. ? –
There’s this Filipino term, “buwis-buhay” which in English translates to, “risking your life” (it’s hard to explain because things get lost in translation but it’s a sort of funny /sarcastic term people say when you do something seemingly harmless that could end up hurting/killing you) –
If you have motion-sickness or fear of heights then you might consider the boat ride instead. Or it could be fine if you are ready for it (Tip: take that motion-sickness pill!) –
The buses are almost always full and cramped. If you’re lucky, you get a seat. If not, you stand and hold real tight as these bad-ass drivers do their thing. –
Honestly, there’s nothing like it. The roads feel dangerously narrow esp for a two way street that often involves cars (parked & moving), scooters, pedestrian, trucks and buses. But the views… sometimes foggy, often amazing that you wonder if you’re still alive… Then you hear the sound of the horn, again, and again, and you know, yep, you are. –
The heroes here are these bad-ass #drivers (men & women) just going about their day, cool and confident as they show us what the Amalfi coast is all about.
